You’ve said goodbye to your guests, the three-course evening meal was a success, it’s late and your kitchen is full of dishes. It’s at moments like this that your faithful friend, the dishwasher, comes to the rescue. To ensure that it does a reliable job and keeps the kitchen dry, a well-known manufacturer of household appliances commissioned us to develop a new water deflector.
The requirements for the development of the profile were varied and demanding. For example, the dishwasher had to be completely leak-proof and not spill drops onto the floor when opened. A simplified assembly process was also required. The profile had to perform as specified with simultaneous cost optimisation. It also had to allow the punching pattern to be implemented and a precisely defined deflection to take place along the length.
An existing solution was revised in close cooperation. The open exchange of information between all parties involved, from defining the requirements and discussing the initial approaches to manufacturing the product, was crucial to the successful development of the profile. The new generation water deflector has an adapted clamping foot geometry which makes installation much easier.
