The mobil Group, a family-owned company headquartered in Berneck, is expanding its production capacity with the purchase of the former Sefar AG site in Wolfhalden and is merging the previous mobil Kunststoffprofile AG sites at the new site.
The mobil Group had long been looking for a location where the two production sites of mobil Kunststoffprofile AG in Berneck and Herisau could be integrated. With the former Sefar AG building in Wolfhalden, the company, which employs around 140 people and generates sales of over CHF 40 million, has now found what it was looking for.
The two mobil Kunststoffprofile AG sites will be merged on the former Sefar AG site in Wolfhalden by mid-2025.
Planned relocation date by mid-2025
With a production area of 13,000 m2, the 20,000 m2 Sefar site offers the ideal size for integrating the two mobil Kunststoffprofile AG sites. In Herisau and Berneck, over 1000 customized profiles made of thermoplastics and elastomers are already being produced for demanding industries in Switzerland and abroad. 16 ultra-modern production lines are permanently in operation for this purpose. At the new site, mobil Kunststoffprofile AG's more than 40 skilled employees will find even better conditions following the comprehensive conversion of the existing production areas in Wolfhalden. Planning for the conversion has already begun, and the relocation of the two sites to the new premises is scheduled for mid-2025.

How did mobil Services AG come to purchase the Sefar site in Wolfhalden?
Lukas Lang: We had been looking for some time for a location where our branches in Herisau and Berneck could be merged. The former Sefar AG building in Wolfhalden met our requirements perfectly and is also almost centrally located between the two current sites.
How will mobil Kunststoffprofile AG's customers benefit from the new location?
Lukas Lang: As a competent solution partner in the field of plastic profiles, added value for our customers is always at the heart of everything we do. The merger of the two sites in Wolfhalden will create new synergies and the combined expertise of our employees will be put to even better use. In addition, we will be able to further increase our capacities by modernizing the production areas beforehand.
Will the move also affect the other business units of the mobil Group?
Alexander Lang: mobil Werke AG and mobil Services AG will remain in Berneck for the time being. The other business units will therefore not be affected by the move - but the entire mobil Group will benefit from the new, leaner structure.
